NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, July 9, 2015 — The Automotive Management Institute (AMi) and the Automotive Service Association (ASA) have jointly announced Preston Osborn, service manager for Seyfer Automotive in Wheat Ridge, Colo., as the recipient of this year’s Emil Stanley Merit Award.
The award honors Emil Stanley, who was publisher of Automotive Body Repair News (ABRN) until his death in 1989. Stanley was committed to strengthening professionalism of the automotive industry through education. He was recognized as a strong advocate of the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE), the world's largest collision repair event sponsored annually by ASA.
Osborn has worked in the automotive industry for more five years. He holds several ASE certifications and is currently working to complete the necessary requirements to earn the Institute’s Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation. When not working in the shop, he contributes his time to various community and industry organizations.
As the scholarship recipient, Osborn will receive $1,000 to be applied toward expenses to attend educational sessions and view the latest repair technologies and equipment during the 2015 International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) and the Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS), to be held July 21-25 this year in Detroit.
“I am honored to be selected as the recipient of this scholarship,” said Osborn. “It provides me with the opportunity to attend education and training to help me stay on the cutting-edge of the automotive industry.”
The Emil Stanley Award is made possible by a grant from ASA to AMi's resource development program, EXCEL.
AMi was established in 1989 to answer the demand for continuing education tailored specifically for the business needs of the automotive service industry. The Institute offers the Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation, the first business management accreditation exclusively for the automotive service professional.
